Antoinette Hampton was born in Cape Town and grew up in Johannesburg where she studied painting under Penny Siopis at Wits University.
On completing her Fine Art degree, she spent some time in London where she worked for Dragons of Walton Street, specialising in mural and furniture painting. Whilst in London she also continued as a fine artist exhibiting at Advocate Gallery and various group shows.
On returning to South Africa, Antoinette spent 3 years exploring printmaking at Michaelis Art School. Antoinette combines both her painting and printmaking skills in her unique style where the playful, subtle quality of the painting has a curious dialogue with the rigid pattern or text of the print.
Antoinette presently works from Eastside Studios in Salt River, Cape Town.
