Room 1 YARNS – A group Exhibition

Three artists using embroidery as their chosen medium in innovative ways. Exploring possible meaning of social placing and personal historical implications.  Textile art is re-emerging as an exciting and often surprising medium.   Each of our artist’s aesthetic and dialogue is varied but all with a common thread.

Room 2

An installation by Lerato Motau.  “Embroidery and particularly the act of stitching are important in my work, where each stitch is a symbolic journey.” Lerato Motau from Johannesburg, has participated in many group exhibitions throughout South Africa, participated in public art projects and is included in notable private and public collections.  She completed a residency at Great more Studios in Cape Town and has featured in two documentaries by international film makers.

This is perfect for those who want to venture to acquire a new skill. The workshop covers all you need to know to embroider.  Lerato will cover the basic embroidery techniques, texture and finishing methods, all whilst experimenting with fun and diverse materials.
