Helena Jordaan was born in October 1963. Her early childhood years were spent in little countryside places like Kotzesrus and Bitterfontein in the Namaqualand on the West Coast of South Africa. With no art as subject at school or post-school she matriculated in Carnarvon in the Karroo and then “life” happened. Doing admin mainly as a Council employee.
Helena was only introduced to oil paints during an Easter weekend 2009, attending an art workshop by the late Luie Audi and was hooked forever. Luie Audi was wel known for his Namibian and Karoo landscapes and was a brilliant landscape artist.
From then on Helena attended weekly art classes and workshops as much as she could afford. Since 2012 she was privileged enough to paint on a more regular and daily basis. Now based in Joostenbergvlakte close to Cape Town, she teaches art to beginner students, and is a full-time artist/housewife.
Helena joined the South African Society of Arts in 2016 to be able to take part in the Annual Selection Weekend Competitions. This also enabled her to showcase some of her work at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens ‘s Gallery and sold work to international tourists from Germany and Switzerland.
